Celebrating Wednesday's #13

I can't believe where the week has gone to. I'll be honest, I hadn't even realised that it was Wednesday today, then I had a sudden panic because I hadn't got my Wednesday post ready. Eek! However, as you can see, I've managed to pull myself together and here we are Celebrating our thirteenth Special Wednesday.

This week, may be a difficult one for some of you, I apologise now. For others, it may be a real treat to see these cute little reptiles. Whichever camp you fall into, today we are celebrating...

Serpent Day!

Now, he's not such a scary little chap is he and because this is Little Orange Dog, we only have photos of little orange snakes.

Snakes are a bit like Marmite, you either like them or you're terrified of them (although I've not actually met anyone who is terrified on Marmite), but they are absolutely fascinating creatures. I am a bit of a snake fan, at least from a distance, and love nothing more than visiting the reptile house at the zoo; obviously they're more interesting if they're actually moving around, but often it's a case of standing in front of a glass window trying to spot the well hidden reptile.

Sadly, some people see snakes and think 'money' and 'fashion' and these beautiful creatures are killed to be worn, or to become a bag to be carried around. My personal opinion is that no creature should be killed for it's skin alone and the process of getting the skin from a snake seems hideously cruel. I am not going to describe it here, but, if you are interested please follow this link, it might even change the way you feel about this slithery little chaps.

If that's enough snake talk for you, fear not, because let us not forget, that today is also the first day of a brand new month. Today is not only 1st February, but it is also (amongst other things) Hot Breakfast Month! Oh yes folks, February is the month where you can eat a guilt free Full English, or a nice fresh croissant, straight from the oven (I'm leaning toward the fry up). If you're still not convinced, remember, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

So whether, you enjoy a nice hot bowl of porridge, or good old fry up, have a fabulous February!
