Thinking Of You Week

I wasn't planning on posting today, but then I realised that time is passing by very quickly since the children have returned to school and Thinking of You Week is creeping up fast.

This particular week is very close to my heart for many reasons. If you read the blog from time to time you may have seen the post I made on World Suicide Prevention Day, where I shared my own personal story of losing someone in this cruel way. However, I am also aware that I have friends who have suffered or do suffer from some form of mental illness and have myself suffered from depression in the past.

I consider myself to be lucky because I was diagnosed fairly quickly and was fortunate to benefit from counselling, namely CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). This therapy has given me the awareness to recognise the symptoms and triggers of my depression and the skills to then deal with them, but I know that for many people counselling can be difficult to come by - the waiting lists can be long. This isn't a great situation for someone who needs help NOW, but this is also where you can help.

Thinking of You Week is an initiative run by the Greetings Card Association. The idea is to send a card to a different person each day of the week, to show you are 'thinking of them'. To someone who may be suffering from depression, anxiety, or maybe even a physical illness that causes them to feel lonely or isolated, this small act of kindness can make a huge difference. To someone who is feeling that there is no hope left and no one will miss them if they're gone, this act could save a life. You see, to you, it may only be a card, but to the person receiving that card, it is love, it is kindness, it is a lifeline. Someone knows you exists and cares enough to have thought about you and unlike a kind word (which is a fabulous thing) a card is a memory that can be kept and treasured. If you're feeling low, you can take that card and remind yourself, you are not alone, you do matter and someone cares.

And this is where I am proud to be working as an Independent Phoenix Trader, because Phoenix have got on board with this wonderful incentive and have put together a pack of seven cards;one for every day of the Thinking of You Week, so you have absolutely no excuse not to send a card each day.

CODE: CPACK01 £8.40
These cards are absolutely beautiful and I know that I would have felt emotionally lifted to have received one when I was poorly. They are also fabulous value at only £1.20 per card, but, the best part for me, is that for every pack of cards purchased, Phoenix will give £1.00 to the amazing charity MIND.

So please do head over to my website https://goo.gl/bWYUP1, or if you live locally, contact me directly via my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/lisadscards/ and place an order. Not only will your card make a difference to a friends life, but the donation to MIND will help many others too.

If you are feeling low, lonely, isolated or know someone who is, please visit MIND directly who have a whole website of help and advice http://www.mind.org.uk/
